We provide fossil mammoth ivory and fossil walrus bone parts and inlay slabs for cue stick making.
Both materials are from Alaska. These unique materials are found by natives on private, state and native lands.
Fossil mammoth ivory (FMI) is legal to sell and ship internationally and within the USA except to the states of NY, NJ and CA.
Fossil Walrus Bone (FWB) is legal to sell and ship within the 50 states but it cannot sell/ship beyond the US.
While we work to provide the lightest colored FMI available for the cue trade, FMI is usually an off white color and most often an almond colored material. Colors and grains range and we cannot assure you of the exact shade you may want. The material is costly because only a very small percentage of all the ancient tusks found have been discovered in a condition where such large pieces can be machined. While the tusks are large they are most often riddled with cracks that negate the making of large diameter pieces. In addition it takes many years of aging the material after it has been removed from the ground to be stable for turning and precision applications such as with cues. Our current stock of FMI and FWB has been out of the ground for over 20 years. It is very stable material.
