Ivory Cue Inlay Slabs & Point Stock
Ivory Inlay slabs for cues as well as for furniture and other decorative art pieces. We provide bone, PBE and FMI inlay slabs. A bit of an explanation is needed as most folks have unrealistic ideas as to the nature of inlay slabs.
PBE slab ivory:
PBE is available in good widths and lengths and is cut at .125" thickness unless otherwise noted or requested. By scrolling down you can see some current offerings in this material. PBE is ivory white in color. Flaws are rare - in almost all cases you have a complete clean sheet of material from which you can obtain full utilization.
If you have something in mind that is not shown below please email us with your request. Our least expensive inlay slabs are what we term "random slabs". These are PBE slabs that are priced right but you must take whatever we are cutting at the time. You cannot ask for the random slab price but then say you want the slabs to be a certain width or length. When specifying width and length you can get what you want, but, understandably, these requests drive the price. Random slabs will be from 3/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch in width and 3 to 6 inches in length. Most are 4 to 5 inches in length. The random slabs are the best value and you will see some offerings of this below. It is priced at $ .88 per gram which works out to be about $ 3.25 per square inch.
We also provide long slabs and wide slabs for folks doing furniture, musical instrument and other large format inlays. These are usually 1.25 to 2.5 inches in width and from 9 to 10.5 inches in length. If none are shown below you can email us through our contact page for availability and price.
Knife makers should not purchase these slabs for knife making purposes. Inlay slabs are different in several ways from knife slabs and you will not likely be happy. Luthiers should not purchase the slabs to make nuts and saddles as nuts and saddles are a different cut and selection for tonal properties.
FMI slabs:
FMI inlay slabs are usually cut at .090" thick. Thinner is problematic for the application artisan and thicker is more expensive and difficult to cut. FMI is a material that is riddled with cracks and discolored areas so it is oftentimes the case that when one buys a slab of FMI they will be working around a few flaws. This is life. You should fill small cracks with epoxy glue that is mixed with ivory dust. The color of FMI can vary from white to dark chocolate brown but the vast majority of it is the color of an almond colored light switch.
